The Self-Destructing Tripod Complaint
After four single uses on this Hama Star 61 Tripod, incidentally bought from Argos, it snapped. Well, it didn't so much as snap, the leg fell off the damned thing. What use is a two legged tripod? Exactly.

Our Complaint
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with one of your products. I recently purchased a Hama Star 61 tripod from my local branch of Argos at a cost of £29.99. Normally when I spend this amount of money on something, I expect it to be of good value and last me for months, if not years to come.

I was wrong though. I bought the tripod in December 2005 and used it about three or four times. You can only imagine my displeasure when I went to use the tripod in February and the catch on one of the legs wasn't functioning as it should. This made the tripod unsteady, so I lowered it to ensure that it was at a level angle. When I picked the tripod up, the leg fell off. What use is a two legged tripod? About as much use as a chocolate teapot, or a plastic fireguard.

I'm not happy. I went to Argos and they replaced it, as it was outwith the 16 day guarantee policy. Now I am stuck with a tripod by a manufacturer I cannot trust and haven't dared to open the box to cast my eyes on such a product.

I am seeking compensation to the value of £29.99 to buy a tripod, preferably one which the legs don't fall off of after five uses.

Yours etc.

Sent on behalf of a friend.
