Modified Car Owners
Citroen Saxo's, Rover 200 series, Vauxhall Nova's and Peugeot 106's are never going to look good and go fast. You're wasting your money on them. Best just to start saving when you pass your test and when you're 25 you can buy something decent and be able to get insurance for it.

The Rant
Every town has them, every resident despises them, they make insurance almost impossible to get for any other respectable driver in the same age category. I am of course referring to the stereotypical "Boy Racer." This pretty much covers anyone who happens to fall into the age of 17 - 25. There are a few exceptions to this rule, they are the ones who don't spend c. £10,000 'modifying' their crappy little Vauxhall Nova's, Rover 214's and Citroen Saxo's.

They buy a respectable car and keep it standard, for one reason: when it comes to a point when they need a larger or newer vehicle, it won't rapidly depreciate in price due to the crap 'spoiler' and big exhaust. A friend of mine, who shall remain nameless as he falls into this category, wanted a better car. So, he headed to the car dealership to look at a Citroen. When he enquired about part exchanging his Vauxhall Nova, complete with: Loud Exhaust, Bodykit, Bucket Seats and a lot more unrequired accessories. The dealership told him his car was worth about £250 as it was, despite my friend spending close to £9000 on all the bits. He sold it privately to a boy racer for £2350, yes two thousand three hundred and fifty pounds, not Polish Zlotys.

I am a standard car driver, a Ford Focus to be precise, and my girlfriend has a standard company car, an Audi estate, both of these vehicles are completely standard, the only addition is the mobile phone kits. I was driving my girlfriends car the other day, as we had to go to the supermarket to get the weekly shopping done. I stopped at the traffic lights to let the pedestrians across, a boy racer pulled up next to our car and started revving his engine. I don't think he quite understood the physics of the situation. A standard Vauxhall Corsa, first registered in 1995 and finished in purple, was not going to beat an Audi estate with a 1.9 engine sitting under the bonnet, and registered last September. I was told not to race him by my other half, I agreed, it was morally wrong. The lights turned green and I drove off at a normal speed, still in first gear gradually working my way through the gearbox. The boy racer who thought he could outrun an Audi, was still at the traffic lights. He had stalled.

Why waste all that time and money building a shit car from a Nova, then calling it "Novadose." It's pathetic and you should be ashamed, not only is it crap and will never achieve the cult following that some Japanese cars attain. If it started a Nova, it's always going to be shite.

Eventually, one day, you will pass the age of 25 and be able to get cheaper insurance. Maybe you'll buy a Nissan Skyline, if you do you'll probably not be able to handle the intense power (and you thought your Saxo 1.1 was nippy) and you'll modify it.

Stick to your shit cars, don't pull up next to my car and expect a race. You don't want to be embarrassed now, do you?
